📚 History & Origin

Independence Day commemorates July 4, 1776, when the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, declaring the thirteen American colonies' independence from British rule. Although the vote for independence actually occurred on July 2, 1776, the Declaration was officially adopted on July 4, which became the date celebrated as American independence. The tradition of celebrating Independence Day with fireworks, parades, and patriotic displays began in 1777 and has continued for nearly 250 years.

🎊 Traditions & Celebrations

Americans celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks displays, parades, barbecues, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies honoring America's history and heritage. Many cities host large fireworks shows, and families gather for outdoor celebrations featuring grilled foods, watermelon, and apple pie. Patriotic songs like 'The Star-Spangled Banner' and 'America the Beautiful' are commonly performed.
